FORECAST
Change a forecast amount from a future effective date while preserving the assumption that applies before it.
4 min readBEFORE YOU START
A future change creates a new amount threshold from the effective date you choose. The earlier forecast amount remains in place before that date.
Keep the current forecast assumption as the base amount
Enter the new amount that should apply later
Choose the date from which the new amount becomes effective
Earlier forecast periods are not rewritten
STEP BY STEP
From Forecast Settings, edit the source whose amount is expected to change later.
Below the source's main forecast settings, use Add future change to create a new amount that begins later.
Changes are effective-date thresholds. Earlier forecast periods are not rewritten.
Set the amount that should replace the current forecast amount from the future effective date onward.
Effective From determines when the new amount begins applying to future forecast movements.
Save the change to add it to the source's future amount schedule.
The base amount continues before the effective date. From the effective date onward, Forecast uses the new amount.
Open an existing future change when you need to update its amount or effective date, or remove that future threshold.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
Future amount changes let one forecast assumption evolve over time without replacing the amount that applied before the effective date.
Editing a future change affects that future threshold. It does not rewrite the earlier base amount.
