BUDGET
Classify your expense categories as Fixed, Variable or Not Budgeted so your monthly budget reflects how you want to organize spending.
4 min readBEFORE YOU START
Each active expense category can be classified according to how you want it to appear in your budget.
Fixed is for predictable or recurring expense categories
Variable is for flexible day-to-day spending
Not Budgeted removes the category from Fixed and Variable classification
Save your changes when the categories are organized correctly
STEP BY STEP
From your Budget page, choose Settings to manage how active expense categories are organized.
Each active expense category can be classified as Fixed, Variable or Not Budgeted.
Fixed categories are useful for expenses that are generally expected as part of your regular monthly plan.
Fixed describes how the category is organized in your budget. It does not mean the actual spending must always be exactly the same.
Variable categories help separate day-to-day spending that may change from month to month.
Variable categories can still have monthly budget amounts. The classification simply keeps them separate from Fixed expenses.
Use Not Budgeted when a category should not be classified as Fixed or Variable. Save your settings when you are finished.
Category classification applies across months. Changing a category to Not Budgeted removes its Fixed or Variable classification, while stored budget amounts are preserved.
ONE CATEGORY STRUCTURE
Budget Settings determines where expense categories appear in your budget without changing the transactions assigned to those categories.
Classification organizes the budget view. Changing a category's classification does not recategorize the underlying transactions.
