Understand projected occurrences

See how a recurring schedule creates expected future occurrences while keeping forecast activity separate from recorded transactions.

BEFORE YOU START

Think of occurrences as expected future activity.

A recurring schedule can create a timeline of expected expenses. Each occurrence has its own date, amount and status.

✓

Scheduled — expected future activity

✓

Confirmed — an occurrence that has been handled as transaction activity

✓

Skipped — an occurrence you do not expect to happen

✓

Changing the schedule can affect future projected occurrences

STEP BY STEP

Let's get it set up.

01

Start with the recurring schedule

The recurring schedule defines the expected amount, frequency and timing used to create future occurrences.

Follow the projected timeline

MoniTrak can use the schedule to represent upcoming occurrences. Each projected date remains separate so it can be managed individually.

Understand the occurrence status

The status tells you what has happened to each occurrence. A scheduled occurrence is still forecast information, while a confirmed occurrence has progressed into recorded activity.

◇
SCHEDULEDExpected activity

The occurrence is still part of the forecast and has not yet become recorded transaction activity.

✓
CONFIRMEDRecorded activity

The occurrence has been handled through the confirmation workflow and can become part of transaction activity.

×
SKIPPEDNot expected this time

This occurrence is excluded while the recurring schedule can continue for later dates.

◎

Scheduled does not mean paid. A scheduled occurrence remains projected until it is handled through the appropriate workflow.

04

Keep forecast and actual activity separate

Projected occurrences help you anticipate future commitments without changing your balances before the underlying transaction is actually recorded.

◎

A projected AED 350 occurrence does not deduct AED 350from an account or credit card simply because its date appears in the schedule.

THE KEY DIFFERENCE

Forecast what may happen without pretending it already did.

Projected occurrences let MoniTrak represent expected future commitments while preserving a clear distinction between forecast information and actual transaction activity.
