STEP BY STEP

Let's get it set up.

01

Start with one financial workspace

MoniTrak brings the different parts of your personal finances into one workspace so you can understand what you have, what you owe, how you are spending and what you are planning next.

◎

You do not need to set up every MoniTrak feature at once. Start with the financial information that matters to you and build from there.

02

Build the foundation with your accounts

Your accounts and credit cards provide the balances that form the foundation of your MoniTrak financial picture. From there, recorded activity adds context to how those balances change.

The next Getting Started guide walks through setting up this financial foundation.

03

Use transactions to organize financial activity

Transactions record the income and spending activity in your workspace. Categories help organize that activity so it can be understood more clearly across MoniTrak.

Recurring payments and installments can also help keep repeated or committed activity visible in your workspace.

04

Use planning tools for different questions

Budget, Forecast and Goals each help with a different part of financial planning. Keeping those purposes separate makes the information easier to understand.

BUDGETPlan monthly spending

Decide how planned income should be assigned across spending categories.

FORECASTLook ahead at future cash

Model expected future inflows and outflows using independent cash assumptions.

GOALSReserve existing cash

Set aside part of eligible bank cash toward a financial target inside MoniTrak.

◎

Budget planning, Forecast assumptions and Goal reservations serve different purposes and do not replace one another.

05

Use Reports and Overview to understand the picture

Once your financial information is in MoniTrak, Overview and Reports help turn it into a clearer picture. Overview brings important information together, while Reports lets you examine financial activity in more detail.

THE BIG PICTURE

Build the workspace first, then use MoniTrak to understand and plan.

Your financial accounts provide the foundation, transactions add activity and the rest of MoniTrak helps you understand, organize and plan around that information.
