BEFORE YOU START

You do not need everything to be perfect.

A useful financial picture starts with the information that matters most to you. You can continue adding detail as you use MoniTrak.

✓

Add the bank accounts you want included in your cash position.

✓

Add the credit cards you want to track.

✓

Record enough transactions to understand recent activity.

✓

Add recurring commitments or planning information when relevant.

STEP BY STEP

Let's get it set up.

01

Check what you currently have

Start with your bank and cash accounts. Together, they show the cash currently visible in your MoniTrak workspace while each account remains separately identifiable.

▣
CURRENTEveryday Account
AED 18,500
◎
SAVINGSMain Savings
AED 20,000
AVAILABLE CASHAED 38,500Cash visible across these accounts
◎

Your individual account balances remain separate even when MoniTrak summarizes them into a wider cash position.

02

Add what you currently owe

Credit cards add another important part of the picture. Keeping outstanding card balances visible alongside your cash helps distinguish money you hold from card obligations you still need to cover.

AVAILABLE CASHAED 38,500Money currently held
−
CARD OUTSTANDINGAED 7,250Tracked card obligations
=
NETAED 31,250A broader current position
◎

Credit-card outstanding balances are not treated as available cash.

03

Add the activity behind the balances

Transactions explain how your financial position is changing. Categorized income and spending also provide the activity used by reports and other MoniTrak summaries.

You can continue adding and organizing transactions over time. Your financial picture does not need to be completed in a single session.

04

Make regular commitments visible

Recurring payments, installments and upcoming card obligations add useful context around money that may already be committed or expected to leave your accounts.

Commitments help explain what is coming next; they are different from transactions that have already been recorded.

05

Add planning when you are ready

Once the core picture is in place, use Budget, Forecast and Goals for different kinds of planning. You can use one, two or all three depending on what you want MoniTrak to help you understand.

01Budget

Plan how monthly income should support your spending.

02Forecast

Explore how expected future inflows and outflows may affect projected cash.

03Goals

Reserve part of existing eligible bank cash toward longer-term financial targets.

◎

Budget, Forecast and Goals are separate planning tools: monthly spending, expected future cash and reservations of existing cash serve different purposes.

06

Use Overview as your starting point

Return to Overview when you want a broad view of your financial position. It brings together important summaries from across MoniTrak and helps you decide where to look next.
