A category becomes over budget when recorded spending is greater than the amount allocated to that category for the selected month.
Actual spending becomes greater than the category Budget
Remaining becomes negative
Utilization moves above 100%
Review the underlying transactions to understand what contributed to the additional spending
STEP BY STEP
At 100% utilization, recorded spending has reached the amount allocated to the category and Remaining is AED 0.
At this point, recorded spending exactly matches the category budget.
If additional recorded spending is added to the category, Actual can become greater than Budget.
When Actual exceeds Budget, Remaining becomes negative. The negative amount shows how far recorded spending has moved beyond the category plan.
AED 200 more has been recorded than the amount allocated to Entertainment.
Utilization can continue above 100% when recorded spending exceeds the category budget.
A category reaching 100% does not block future transactions. Budget tracking measures spending against the plan; it does not control whether financial activity can occur.
Use the category's recorded transactions to understand which activity contributed to the amount above budget.
WHEN ACTUAL EXCEEDS THE PLAN
When recorded activity moves beyond a category budget, MoniTrak shows the difference through negative Remaining and utilization above 100%.
If the Actual amount looks unexpected, review the transactions contributing to the category before changing the budget itself.
