Credit cards contain several useful numbers, but they describe different things. Understanding each one makes the broader financial picture easier to interpret.
Outstanding balance — the amount currently owed
Credit limit — the card's maximum credit limit
Available credit — the unused portion of that limit
Available cash — money held across your cash accounts
STEP BY STEP
The outstanding balance represents the amount currently owed on the card in your MoniTrak workspace. It is kept separate from the cash available across your accounts.
The credit limit describes the maximum credit available on the card. It provides context for the outstanding balance but does not represent cash you own.
Available credit is the unused portion of the card limit. In this example, a card with a AED 25,000 limit and AED 8,000 outstanding has AED 17,000 of available credit.
Available credit is borrowing capacity on the card. It should not be treated as available cash in your financial position.
Viewing outstanding card balances alongside the cash held across your accounts provides a clearer picture of what you have and what you currently owe.
THE KEY DIFFERENCE
Keeping these values separate prevents unused card credit from being mistaken for money already available in your accounts.
Available credit does not increase the available-cash amount shown by your cash accounts.
