A balance is a snapshot. A forecast adds time to that picture by considering the financial movements you already expect to happen.
Start with where your cash stands today
Your current cash balance is the starting point of a forecast. It represents the money available across the accounts you choose to include at that moment.
That number is useful, but it does not include everything that may happen next. Salary, regular expenses, card payments and other known commitments can all change the amount available later.
Instead of asking only “How much cash do I have today?”, a forecast helps you ask “What could my cash position look like after the movements I already expect?”
Add the movements you already expect
Expected income can increase your projected cash, while expected spending and upcoming commitments can reduce it. Bringing those movements together gives today's balance more context.
For example, starting with AED 100,000, adding AED 20,000 of expected income and allowing for AED 12,500 of expected spending would produce projected cash of AED 107,500.
Upcoming commitments matter too
Some future movements are easier to anticipate than others. Credit card payments, recurring bills and installments may already be known before they leave your account.
Including those commitments in a forecast can help prevent today's available balance from creating an overly optimistic view of what may actually remain later.
A projection is not a guarantee
Forecasts depend on the information available when they are created. Unexpected spending, changes in income or different payment amounts can all change the result.
For that reason, a projected balance is better understood as a planning view rather than a promise of exactly what your future balance will be.
Remember: a financial forecast is an estimate based on expected information. Actual income, spending and balances can be different.
